Following last month's look at dogfighting in 8bit Elite, this month we will be joined by Nick Anderson (aka jankfactor) who has developed something similar for 32bit users. His new game Space Chase is inspired by the flight section of Elite but builds it into a more arcade style combat game.
Something else this project shares with last month's is the love of handcrafting and optimising code. Where that was dealing with 6502 on the Beeb, Nick has worked hard to ensure the ARM code in Space Chase is fast enough to run even on an A3000.
Nick's other projects include a Midwinter inspired 3D landscape routines, a port of Powermonger, and enhancements to Arculator. Nick will be demonstrating these projects and taking us through some of the source code and toolchains he uses.
