NEXT MEETING
Amongst the RISC OS source code that has been "released" over the years is Acorn's original ground breaking video system, Replay. Phil Pemberton has taken on the brave challenge of getting it running again and trying to understand Sophie's highly optimised ARM code! As well as the playback frontend and decompressors, he has also been looking at the compressors and using them to create the first new ARMovie files in many years. Phil will give us a brief run through what he has found and demonstrate the different compression techniques and some of the movies produced. (If there is time/interest, Phil can also talk about how to use Transputers to turbo charge your Archimedes!)
Meetings are free and everyone is welcome, no booking required, just turn up at the pub. Zoom attendees contact us for the link. (If you have attended any of our previous Zoom meetings, it is the same link) The Duke of Sussex is easily accessible by public transport from in and around London and the south east, and serves a wide range of food and drinks. All meetings benefit from a large screen display, so everyone should have a great view. To be informed about future meetings, please join the mailing list. Everyone on the mailing list will be kept informed of these and other ROUGOL initiatives. |
